Given 3(2z-6)-4(3z+1)=5-2(z+1)

Expand the terms using distributive law a(b+c) =ab +ac

 3(2z-6)-4(3z+1)=5-2(z+1)

3×2z -6×3 -{4×3z+4×1} = 5 - {2×z+2×1}

6z-18-{12z+4} = 5 - {2z+2}

6z-18-12z-4 = 5 -2z -2

-6z -22 = 3 - 2z

-6z +2z =3+22

-4z = 25

z = -25/4

So z = -25/4
