Substitution method

3x-y = 2

Apply multplication property,multiple by 2 to each side

6x-2y = 4 ----------- (1).

5x-2y = 6  ----------- (2)

(1) - (2) ⇒ 6x-2y = 4

               5x-2y = 6

             (-)  (+)    (-)

             __________

               x = -2

Substitute the x value in (1)

6*-2-2y = 4

-12-2y = 4

-2y = 4+12

-2y = 16

-y = 16/2

y = -8

Solution of linear equation is x = -2, y = -8
