The expression is 2(2x)2 .

To transform2(2x)2 into 22x + 1.

Recall the formula : (am)n = amn.

2(2x)2 = 2 * (22x).

Recall the formula : am * an = am + n.

2(2x)2 = 22x + 1.

The expression is 2(2x + 1).

Apply Product of Powers : am · an = am + n.

2(2x + 1) = 2(2x) · 21.

Apply Power of a Power: : (am)n = am · n.

2(2x + 1) = (2x)2 · 21.

2(2x + 1) = 2(2x)2.
