Write the formula for frequency of the standing wave in a string:

f = n c/2L

Here c is the speed of the wave , L is the wavelength, and n is the number of anti nodes.

c and L are constants.

f ∝ n

Since the frequency directly proportional number of anti nodes, if the number of anti nodes decreases, then the frequency also decreases.
