  1. The small and largeintestines are part of the digestive system. The small intestine is longer than the large intestine. Let n represent the length in feet of the small intestine. The large intestine is 5 feet long. Write an expression to show how much longer the small intestine is than the large intestine.

The length of the small intestine is n feet.

The length of the large intestine is 5 feet.

The word " the small intestine is longer than the large intestine " represents the inequality " n > 5 ".

n - 5 > 0

So, the length of the small intestine should be (n - 5) feet.

The expression is " n - 5 ''.
