For each of the following situations, decide on an appropriate statistical model.

(a) A Pokemon is shiny or not with some probability. This probability is the same for all Pokemon,

and whether one Pokemon shiny is independent of which other Pokemon, if any, are shiny. You

randomly sample 100,000 Pokemon to estimate what the probability is. Which statistical model

should you use for this sampling?

(b) You believe that how long it takes for the next airplane crash to happen is independent of how long

it's been since the previous crash. For each of the past 12 months you measure how many airplane

crashes happened in that month. Which statistical model should you use for this sampling?

(c) You believe that the heights of all Berkeley students should follow a normal distribution. You

pick 100 students at random and measure each of their heights.

(a)

Binomial probability model is the appropriate to use in this situation .

Let the probability of  shiny Pokemon is p = x .

So the probability of Pokemon not shiny is q = 1-x .

The Binomial probability model is

Where k is number of successes in n - trails .

          n is total number of trails = 100000 samples .

          p is the successes probability .

          q is failure probability .

Hence in this situation Binomial probability model is the appropriate .
