Find the critical numbers of the function f.

Find the absolute maximum and minimum values, if any, of f on the given interval [−1, 2].

Step 1 :

To find the absolute extreme of function in given region image .

Substitute Left end point  in image.

Substitute right end point 2 in image.

Left end point image is local minimum point over the interval image.

Critical  point image is absolute maximum point over the interval image.

Solution :

Local minimum point is  image .

Absolute maximum point is image .
