Given equation (3x+1)/2 + (x+5)/4=0

Taking L.C.M

 (2*(3x+1)+(x+5))/4 = 0

Distribute terms using distributive law: a(b+c) = ab+ac

(6x +2 +x+5)/4 = 0

(7x + 7)/4 = 0

Multiply each side with 4

7x + 7 = 0

Subtract 7 from each side

7x = -7

Divide each side by 7

x = -1

(3x + 1) / 2 + (x + 5) / 4 = 0

Multiply each side by 4

4[(3x + 1) / 2 + (x + 5) / 4] = 0[4]

2(3x + 1) + x + 5 = 0

6x + 2 + x  + 5 = 0

7x + 7 = 0

Subtract 7 from each side

7x = -7

Divide each side by 7

Therefore x = -1.
