The given equation (x - 5)/( x -1) = ( x+3)/x

x ( x - 5) = (x -1) (x+3)

x^2 - 5x = x^2 -x+3x -3

x^2 - 5x -x^2 + x - 3x +3 = 0

- 7x +3 = 0

Therefore x = 3/7

The solution is x = 3/7.
