x +5y = 2

x=2-5y-------------------------------------(1)

3x - 7y = 12-------------------------------------(2)

Substitute 2-5y for x in equation (2).

3(2-5y) - 7y = 12

6-15y-7y =12

-22y = 6

y =-6/22 =-3/11

Substitute -3/11 for y in equation (1).

x=2-5(-3/11) =2+(15/11) =37/11

Solution is (37/11, -3/11)
