The given points (-4 , -5) and (-1 , -1)

The distance between points (x1, x2) and (y1, y2) = sqrt( (x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2 )

= sqrt[ (-1 - (-4) )^2 + ( -1 - (-5) )^2 ]

= sqrt( ( -1 + 4 )^2 + ( -1 + 5)^2 )

= sqrt( (3)^2 + (4)^2 )

= sqrt( 9 + 16 )

= sqrt( 25 )

= 5

The distance between the points is 5 units.
