Elimination method

5x+2y = -11 -------------  (1)

7x-3y = 17 -------------- (2)

To eliminate the y value (1)*3 + (2)*2

⇒15x+6y = -33

   14x-6y = 34

_______________

      29x =1

       x = 1/29

Substitute the x value in (1)

5(1/29) + 2y = -11

5/29 + 2y = -11

2y = -11 - 5/29

2y = (-319-5)/29

Apply division property, divide by 2 to each side.

2y/2 = -324/29*2

y = -324/58

Solution x = 1/29,

            y = -324/58
