Line equation is y-y1 =m (x-x1)

Given line slope say m1 = 1/3

So parallel line has same slope.

Required line slope say m2 = 1/3

(x1,y1) = (5,3)

Required line eqn is y-y1 = m2(x-x1)

y-3 = 1/3(x-5)

Cross multiplication.

3(y-3) = 1(x-5)

3y-9 = x-5

Bring all the terms to one side.

-x+3y-9+5 = 0

-x+3y-4 = 0

Multiply with negitive sign.

x-3y+4 = 0

Line which is passes through (5,3) and parallel to given line is x-3y+4 = 0
