4(2x+9)-12-2x = 20

4*2x+4*9-12-2x = 20

8x+36-12-2 = 20

6x+24 = 20

Subract 24 from each side.

6x+24-24 = 20-24

6x = -4

Divide to each side by 6

6x/6 = -4/6

x = -2/3
