Volume of the cylinder V = pi *r^2*h

pi = 22/7, h =12in, V = 102 cubic in.

Cylinder base is a circle.

Area of circle = pi *r^2

102 = pi *r^2*12

pi *r^2 =102/12

pi *r^2 = 8.5c inches.

Base area of cylinder is 8.5 squre in.
