  • The interval notation form of a solution set is ( - 7, - 1 ).
  • That means, the solution set consist of all values between - 7 and - 1.
  • Since open interval, the solution set does not consists the end points(- 7 and - 1) of the test interval

( - 7, - 1 ).

  • The compound inequality form  of the solution set is - 7 < x < - 1, where x be a real number,

Graph the solution on a number line :

Observe the graph, the open circle means that the points (- 7 and - 1) are not included in the solution set.
