The expression is 2 3/4 + 6 3/4.

First convert the mixed fraction into improper fraction.

The improper fraction of 2 3/4 = [2(4) + 3]/4 = (8 + 3)/4 = 11/4.

The improper fraction of 6 3/4 = [6(4) + 3]/4 = (24 + 3)/4 = 27/4.

2 3/4 + 6 3/4 = 11/4 + 27/4.

                     = (11 + 27)/4.

                     = 38/4.

                     = 19/2.

                     = 9 1/2.

The solution is 9 1/2.
