Substitution method :

The equations are

- 2x - 3 = - 7   ---> (1)

- 3x + 5y = - 29  ---> (2)

Solve y From (2).

5y = 3x - 29

y = (3x - 29)/5.    --> (3)

Substitute the y  value in (1).

- 2x - 3(3x - 29/5)  = - 7

(- 10x - 9x + 87)/5  = - 7

-19x + 87 = -35

-19x  = - 35 - 87 = - 122

x  = - 122/-19

x  = 6.42.

Substitute x  value in (3).

y = (3(6.42) - 29)/5=-9.73/5

y  = - 1.94

Solution x  = 6.42 and y = - 1.94.
