Greatest common factor is greatest number that divides both the numbers without a remainder.

Find the prime factors of each number

165 = 1 * 3 * 5 * 11

126 = 1 * 2 * 3 * 3 * 7

The common factors are  1 and 3.

The greatest common factor is 3.
