Elimination method

Given equations are x-2y = -9 ---> (1)

-5x+2y = -3 ---> (2)

To eliminate the y value add the equations (1)&(2).

 x-2y = -9

-5x+2y = -3

_______________

-4x = -12

divide to each side by negitive 4.

x = 3

Substitute the x value in (2).

-15+2y = -3

Add 15 to each side.

2y = -3+15

2y = 12

Divide to each side by 2.

y = 6.

Solution x = 3, y = 6.
