Substitution method

Given first equation 5s -2t = 16 ---> (1)

Second equation s +3t = 10

Subtract 3t  from each side.

= 10-3 ---> (2)

From (2) substitute the s  value in (1).

5(10-3t )-2t  = 16

50-15t-2t = 16

Subtract 50 from each side.

-17t  = -34

Divide to each side by negitive 17.

t  = 2

Substitute the value in (2).

s = 10-6

s = 4

Solution = 4 and = 2.
