Given line equation y  = x /3 - 4

Compare it to slope intercept form y  = mx + b ---> (1).

Here m  repesents slope and b  is intercept of y .

Slope of the given line is = 1/3.

We know that parallel lines slopes are equal.

Slope of parallel line to given line is  m  = 1/3.

Given parallel line intercept (0,-1).

b  = -1.

Substitute the m  , b  values in equation (1).

Required line equation y  = x /3 -1.
