sqrt(d^2-11 )= 5

Squaring on both sides

(d^2-11 )= 5

Add 11 to each side

d^2=16

d=-4 or 4

The equation is √(d2- 11) = 5.

Squaring on both sides.

d2- 11 = 25

Add 11 to each side.

d2- 11+ 11 = 25 + 11

d2 = 36

⇒ d = ± 6.

The solution is d = - 6 and d = 6.
