x3 and y3 are actually 'x cube' and 'y cube'.

X-6y=10,xy=16

Use the formula (a-b)^3=(a^3-b^3)-3ab(a-b)

Substitute x for a and 6y for b.

(x-6y)^3=(x^3-(6y)^3-3(x)(6y)(x-6y)

(x-6y)^3=x^3-216y^3-18xy(x-6y)

Substitute 10 for x-6y and 16 for xy

(10)^3=x^3-216y^3-18(16)(10)

1000=x^3-216y^3-2880

x^3-216y^3=3880
