7)

(3x - 1)^2  =  36

Apply square root on each side

(3x - 1)  =  √ 36

(3x - 1)  =  ±6

(3x - 1)  =  6           ;         (3x - 1)  =  - 6

3x  =  6 + 1            ;          3x  =  - 6 + 1

3x  =  7                  ;          3x  =  - 5

x  =  7/3                 ;          x  =  - 5/3

8)

(3x + 5)^2  =  100

Apply square root on each side

(3x + 5)  =  √ 100

(3x + 5)  =  ±10

(3x + 5)  =  10       ;          (3x + 5)  =  - 10

3x  =  10 - 5          ;          3x  =  - 10 - 5

3x  =  5                 ;          3x  =  - 15

x  =  5/3                ;          x  =  - 15/3

x  =  5/3                ;          x  =  - 5

9)

(2x - 5)^2  =  8

Apply square root on each side

(2x - 5)  =  ±√8

(2x - 5)  =  √8                ;         (2x - 5)  =  -√8

2x  =  √8 + 5                 ;         2x  =  -√8 + 5

x  =  (√8 + 5)/2              ;         x  =  (-√8 + 5)/2

x  =  (√8)/2 + 5/2           ;         x  =  (-√8)/2 + 5/2

x  =  (2√2)/2 + 5/2         ;         x  =  (-2√2)/2 + 5/2

x  =  √2 + (5/2)              ;         x  =  -√2 + (5/2)

10)

(7x + 2)^2  =  64

Apply square root on each side

(7x + 2)  =  √64

(7x + 2)  =  √64

(7x + 2)  =   ±8

(7x + 2)  =  8         ;           (7x + 2)  =  - 8

7x  =  8 - 2            ;           7x  =  - 8 - 2

7x  =  6                 ;           7x  =  - 10

x  =  6/7                ;            x  =  - 10/7

Answer :

7) The Solutions are x  =  7/3 and  x  =  - 5/3

8) The Solutions are x  =  5/3 and  x  =  - 5

9) The Solutions are x  =  √2 + (5/2) and x  =  -√2 + (5/2)

10) The Solutions are x  =  6/7 and  x  =  - 10/7
