4(x-1)^2 = 23

Divide by 4 to each side.

4/4(x-1)^2 = 23/4

(x-1)^2 = 23/4

Take square root each side of equation.

√(x-1)^2 =√(23/4)

(x-1) =√(23/4)

Add 1 to each side.

x-1+1 = √23/2 + 1

x =√23/2 + 1

Solution of given quadratic equation x =√23/2 + 1

check your answer
(x-1) = ± √(23/4)
x = 1 + √(23/4),  1 - √(23/4)

check your answer
(x-1) = ± √5.75
x - 1 = ± 2.39
x = 1 ± 2.39
x = 3.39, -1.39
