How to multiply 11*0.1?

I don't just want an answer, I'd like to know how to do it.

11*0.1

Convert 0.1decimal form to fraction form.

Then 0.1 = 1/10

Now 11*0.1 = 11*1/10

                    = 11/10

                     = 1 . 1

Given that 11 * 0.1

=1.1

The expression is 11 * 0.1

Rewrite 1 1as sum of 10 and 1

11 * 0.1 = (10 + 1) * 0.1

Apply distributive property

= 10 *0.1 + 1 *0.1

= 1 + 0.1

= 1.1
