If so, what is the constant of variation?

Given 2x+y = 10

Subtract 2x from each side.

2x-2x+y = 10-2x

y = -2x+10

Direct variation equation is y = kx.

intercept of of every direct variation equation is 0.

It's not direct variation equation.
