y is direct variation to then y = kx

Given numbers form a ratio expressed as y/x = 24/6

To find y when x = 5

We set up another ratio is y/5.

By the definition both ratios are equal 24/6 = y/5

4 = y/5

Multiple to each side by 5.

4*5 = 5y/5

y = 20
