5(4+2x)-(8x-12) = 68

20+10x-8x+12 = 68

32+2x = 68

Subtract 32 from each side.

32-32+2x = 68-32

2x = 36

Divide to each side by 2.

2x/2 = 36/2

x = 18

Solution x = 18.
