Substitution method

y = 2x-2 ------> (1)

y = 3x-8 -------> (2)

From (1) substitute the y value in (2).

2x-2 = 3x-8

Bring all terms to one side.

2x-2-3x+8 = 0

-x+6 = 0

Multiple to each side by negitive one.

x-6 = 0

Add 6 to each side.

x-6+6 = 0+6

x = 6

Substitute the x value in (1).

y = 2*6-2

y = 12-2

y = 10

Solution x = 6, y = 10.
