The product of 2 consecutive #s is 4160 what are the numbers?

Find two consecutive number with a product of 4160.

Let the first number = x

It's consecutive number is x+1.

x(x+1) = 4160

x^2+x = 4160

Subtract 4160 from each side.

x^2+x-4160 = 0

Compare it to quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c = 0.

If x = 64 then second number is 65.

If x = -65 then second number is -64.
