7x - 2y = 24

Multiply above equation by 2.

14x - 4y = 48----------------> (1)

5x + 4y = 28 ---------------> (2)

Adding equation (1) & (2)

19x = 76

Divide each side by 19.

x = 4

Substitute x = 4 in the equation (2).

5(4) + 4y = 28

20 + 4y = 28

Subtract 20 from each side.

4y = 8

Divide each side by 4.

y = 2

There fore x = 4 & y = 2
