Substitution method

Given equations 8x-4y = 1 ---> (1)

4y = x-1 ---> (2)

Divide to each side by 4.

y = (x-1)/4

Substitute y value in (1).

8x-4(x-1)/4 = 1

8x-x+1 = 1

7x  = 0

Divide to each side by 7.

x = 0

Subtitute x value in (1).

4y = -1

Divide to each side by 4.

y = -1/4

Solution x = 0, y = -1/4.
