Elimination method

Given equations 5x+5y = 13 ---> (1)

x-5y = 19 ---> (2)

To eliminate y value add the equations (1)&(2).

5x+5y = 13

 x - 5y = 19

____________

6x     = 32

Divide to each side by 6.

x = 16/3.

Substitute the x value in (2).

16/3-5y = 19

Subtract each side by 16/3.

-5y = 19-16/3

-5y = (57-16)/3

-5y = 41/3

Multiple to each side by negitive 5.

y = -41/15

Solution x = 16/3 and y = -41/15.
