Given two equations -3x - y = -10 and 4x - 4y  = 8

Now the line -3x - y  = -10

Write the equation in slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y -intercept.

The equation is -3x  - y = -10

Add 3x  to each side.

- = -10 + 3x

Multiply each side by negative one.

= -3x + 10

Compare the equation with slope-intercept form y = mx + b.

slope = -3 and y -intercept is 10.

y -intercept is 10, so the line crosses the y -axis at (0, 10).

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = -3

Start at point (0, 10), move 3 units down and 1 unit right, then plot the point (1, 7).

Draw a line through these points.

Now the line 4x - 4y  = 8

Write the equation in slope-intercept form y = mx + b, where m is slope and b is y -intercept.

The equation is 4x - 4y  = 8

-4y  = -4x + 8

y  = x - 2

slope = 1 and y -intercept is -2.

y -intercept is -2, so the line crosses the y -axis at (0, -2).

Using slope find the next point.

Slope = rise/run = 1

Start at point (0, -2), move 1 unit up and 1 unit right, then plot the point (1, -1).

Draw a line through these points.

Graph :

graph for the equation - x - 2y = 8

Observe the point of intersection of two lines is (3,1).
