3x 2 + 10x - 7 = 0

Devide each side by 3.

x 2 + (10/3)x - (7/3) = 0

Separate variables and constants aside by adding 64 to each side.

x 2 + (10/3)x = 7/3

 To change the expression into a perfect square trinomial add (half the x coefficient)² to each side of the expression

 Here x coefficient = 10/3. so, (half the x coefficient)² = (10/6)2= 25/9.

Add 25/9 to each side.

x 2 + (10/3)x + 25/9 = 7/3 + 25/9

(x + (5/3))2= 46/9

Take square root both sides

x + 5/3 = ± √46/3

x = - 5/3 ± √46/3

x = - 0.59, - 3.92.

Solution of the equation is x = - 0.59, - 3.92.

Check your solution.

x = - 5/3 ± √46/3

x = - 5/3 + √46/3 and x =  - 5/3 - √46/3

Solution of the equation is x =  0.59, - 3.92.
