Let rectangle width(w ) = x inches

Length of rectangle (l ) = x + 6 inches

Area of rectangle (lw ) = 160 squre inches.

x (x + 6) = 160

x 2+ 6x   = 160

x 2+ 6x  - 160 = 0

x 2+ 16x - 10x - 160 = 0

x ( x + 16) - 10(x + 16) = 0

(x + 16) (x - 10) = 0

x + 16 = 0 and x -10 = 0

x = -16 and 10

Length of a rectangle is always positive,So x = 10.

x = 10

w  = 10 in

= 10 + 6 = 16 in

Dimensions of rectangle is 10in and 16 in.
