Let the width of rectangle = xcm

Then length would be (4+x)cm

Perimeter = 48cm

2(x+4+x) = 48

2(2x+4) = 48

Divide to each side by 2.

2x+4 = 24

Subtract 4 from each side.

2x = 20

Divide to each side by 2.

x = 10

Width = 10cm

Length = 14cm
