how fast a car can move

A car is moving down a street at 55 km/h. A child suddenly runs into the street. If it takes the driver 0.75s to react and apply the brakes, how many meters will the car have moved defore it begins to slow down?

distance = velocity * time

Ffirst convert the velocity units from km/h to m/s

v = 55 km/h = 55 * 1000 m / (3600 s) = 55/36 m/s

Distance = 55/36 * 0.75 s = 11.45 m
