A) The expression is -2 -4x -6x + 5.

-4x, -6x and -2, 5 are like terms. So group them.

= -4x - 6x - 2 + 5                          [Group like terms]

= -10x + 3                                    [Combine like terms]

The simpplified expression is -10x + 3.

B) The expression is 7 - 2x - (-5x) - 8.

Product of two same signs is positive.

= 7 - 2x + 5x - 8

-2x, 5x and 7, -8 are like terms. So group them.

= -2x + 5x + 7 - 8                          [Group like terms]

= 3x - 1                                         [Combine like terms]

The simpplified expression is 3x - 1.
