Given line Equation is 4x + 3y = 8.

Re-write the equation.

3y = 8 - 4x

y = (-4/3)x + (8/3)

We can clearly observe that the equation is in the form of y = mx + c.

Where the slope m = -4/3.

Let slope of the line be m1 = -4/3

perpendicular line slope say m2 .

 then we know that m1*m2 = -1.

m2 = -1/(m1)

m2 = 3/4

Then the equation of the perpendicular line is y = m2x + b.

y = (3/4)x + b.

The point ( -1 , 5) passes through the perpendicular line.

5 = (3/4) (-1) + b

b = 23/4.

The equation of the perpendicular line is y = (3/4)x + 23/4.

Therefore option (d) is correct.
