8 / 11 - 2 / 3 = x / 9

Add 2 / 3 to each side

8 / 11 -2 / 3 + 2 / 3 = x / 9 + 2 / 3

8 / 11 = x / 9 + 6 / 9

The LCM is 9

8 / 11 = (x + 6) / 9

Recall : symmetric property for any nos a and b if a = b then b = a

(x + 6) / 9 = 8 / 11

Multiply each side by 9

x + 6 = 72 / 11

Subtract 6 from each side

x = (72 / 11) - 6

x = (72 / 11) -(66 / 11)

LCM is 11 then

x = (72 - 66) / 11

x = 6 / 11.

8/11-2/3=x/9
first simply the left hand side expression.
Rewrite the fractions using LCD. LCM of 3 and 11 is 33.
24/33 - 22/33 = x/9
2/33 = x/9
find cross products
2 * 9 = 33 x
divide each side by 33
18/33 = 33x/33
x=18/33
