The equation is (4+x)/3 + 4 = (x-6)/2 + 6.

The least common multiple of 3 and 4 is 12 and the least common multiple of 2 and 6 is 12

[(4+x) + 12]/3 = [(x-6) + 12]/2

(16+x)/3 = (x+6)/2

Apply cross multiplication: If a/b = c/d ⇒ ad = bc.

2(16+x) = 3(x+6)

Apply distributive property: a(b+c) = ab+ac.

32+2x = 3x+18

Subtract 2x from each side.

32+2x - 2x = 3x+18 - 2x

32 = x+18

Subtract 18 from each side.

32 - 18 = x+18 - 18

14 = x.

The value of x = 14.
