The length and width of a rectangle are the ratio 5:4

Let length of rectangle = l and width of the rectangle = w

 w = 5/4

w = 4l

w = l / 5

The perimeter of the rectangle ,= 2 (l + w)

2 (l + w) = 126

Substitute 4 l / 5 for w .

2 (l + (4 l / 5)) = 126

2l ( 1+(4/5)) =126

2l ( 9/5) =126

18l = 630

l = 630/18 = 35 in

Find the width of the rectangle.

w = l / 5

Substitute 35 in for l .

w = l / 5 = 4(35)/5 = 4(7) = 28 in

Therefore, the dimensions of the rectangle are 35 in and 28 in.
