The absolute inequality is | 4x - 11 | < 5.

Case 1 : 4x - 11< 5.

Add 11 to each side.

4x < 16

Divide each side by 4.

x < 4.

 

Case 2 : 4x - 11 > - 5.

Add 11 to each side.

4x > 6

Divide each side by 4.

x > 3/2.

 

Therefore, the solution of the inequality is { x | 3/2 < x < 4 }.
