what is the quadratic formula answer to 3x^2 + 7x = 76

3x^2+7x = 76

Subtract 76 from each side. 

3x^2+7x-76 = 76-76

3x^2+7x-76 = 0

Compare it to quadratic formula ax^2+bx+c = 0

Then the roots are [-b±√[b^2-4ac]]/2a

a = 3, b = 7, c = -76

x = [-7±√[49-4*3*-76]]/2*3

x = [-7±√(49+912)]/6

x = [-7+31]/6   and x = [-7-31]/6

x = 24/6 and x = -38/6

x = 4 and x = -19/3
