Given equation is x-4y-8 = 0

Add 8 to each side.

x-4y-8+8 = 0+8

x-4y = 8

Subtract x from each side.

x-x-4y = 8-x

-4y = -x+8

Divide to each side by negitive 4.

-4y/-4 = -x/-4+8/-4

y = x/4-2

Compare it slope intercept form is y = mx+b

Slope is 1/4 and y intercept is -2.
