Points say (x1,y1) = (4,10) and(x2,y2) = (5,11)

Standard form of an equation y-y1 = (y2-y1/x2-x1)(x-x1)

y-10 = (11-10/5-4)(x-4)

y-10 = x-4

y = x-4+10

y = x+6

The points are (4, 10) and (5, 11).

  • Slope - intercept - form of a line equation is y = mx + c, where, m is slope and c is y - intercept.

Slope (m ) = (y ₂ - y ₁)/(x ₂ -x ₁).

Substitute the values of (x ₁, y ₁) = (4, 10) and (x ₂, y ₂) = (5, 11) in m = (y ₂ - y ₁)/(x ₂ -x ₁).

m = (11 -  10) / (5 - 4)

m = 1/1

m = 1.

Substitute the values of m = 1 and (x, y ) = (4, 10) in slope - intercept - form of a line equation : y = mx + c.

10 = (1)(4) + c

10 = 4 + c

c = 10 - 4 = 6.

Substitute the values of m = 1 and c = 6 in slope - intercept - form of a line equation : y = mx + c.

y = (1)x + 6.

Therefore, slope - intercept - form of a line equation through the given points is y = x + 6.

  • NOTE :

    The standard form line equation is Ax + By = C. A shouldn't be negative, A and B shouldn't both be zero, and A, B and C should be integers.

    The equation is y = x + 6.

    Subtract y from each side.

    0 = x - y + 6

    Subtract 6 from each side.

    x - y = - 6.
