Line equation to through the point and it's slope m is y-y1 = m(x-x1)

Say the point (x1,y1) = (3,-5) and slope m = 5/2.

y-(-5) = 5/2(x-3)

y+5 = 5/2(x-3)

Cross multiplication.

2(y+5) = 5(x-3)

2y+10 = 5x-15

Subtract 10 to each side.

2y+10-10 = 5x-15-10

2y = 5x-25

Divide to each side by 2.

2y/2 = (5x-25)/2

y = (5/2)x-25/2

The point - slope - form of a line equation is y - y₁ = m(x - x₁).
